Snow. I have always been a lover of snow. I would actively find snow videos on YouTube and just watch snowfall or a fireplace burning on the screen. Yes, I am a lover of snow. February 15, 2021, we got snow. Lovely snow, that stayed on the ground, snow. Snow you can stick your hand in the ground snow. It was fun to walk in, play and breathe clean air until the lights when out Wednesday the 17th around noon. All that fun went out the window as Mom and I bundled up, closed all doors and windows conserving the warmth. It's all fun and games when the heater goes out. The freezing rain, the wind blowing against the house.
Mom and I bundled up with layers of clothes and slept under blankets in a 57 degrees house. During the summer, 57 is a dream, but in this weather, my nose was burning. Water was scarce as a pump broke, so no warmth or water.
The struggle was real, like Hurricane Laura. I would never do that again. The heat of 102 with a generator for the fridge, a window unit, and a fan, but this humidity. This humidity sticks on you like glue. It was a nightmare. I would prefer to be cold. I handled this well, my mother did not. She couldn't think straight. Thursday, February 18 around 3:00 the lights came back on along with the heat. Thank Jesus and the Linemen who worked on our lines. Everyone was working overtime.
For the people of Texas, they got it bad. I'm sure you've seen the media coverage of the snow covering the roads and knocking out power and water. My aunt who lives in Texas was without power for two days. People's roofs are caving in, pipes bursting and dying from the cold. We. southern people. are made for this. We are built for hurricanes and floods but cold weather. We can't think straight. Keep all of us in your thoughts in your prayers. We have a few more days of this. I apologize for not posting any pictures. My internet is slow, but I will post pictures of our snow in these backwoods of Louisiana. Thank you for reading and have a great weekend. (Here is my picture of our cold week, Enjoy)
